JESS MARLOW 11/29/1929 - 8/3/2014 Jess Marlow, former Santa Fe resident, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Loveland, Colorado surrounded by his family. Jess was born November 29, 1929 in Salem, Illinois to Blanche and Rola Marlow. Jess was the middle of nine children. In 1947 Jess graduated from Salem High School and joined the Navy. In 1949 he married his best friend Phyllis. They were married for 65 years. After the Navy, Jess returned to the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) where he earned a degree in Journalism. He then spent the next forty years in broadcasting. He earned numerous awards including several Emmy, Golden Mikes and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Even though these dimmed in his mind his family never did. They joy of his life was Phyllis, along with his daughter, Susan, and his grandsons, Nick and Tim Leibfritz. His son-in-law, Fred, passed away in September of 2013.
