Birtice Card Obituary

Birtice Elizabeth Card
Born November 2, 1942 in Chattanooga, Tennessee Birtice left this earth peacefully on August 19th, 2010 surrounded by her sons. Birtice was an amazing and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, friend and aunt; her kindness, generosity, warm smile, charm, and words of wisdom will forever remain in the hearts of many.
Birtice was preceded in death by her parents Hilda and Gilbert Birdwell; sisters Judy and Terry; and husband Richard Card.
She is survived by her children Sherman and Randall (Randy) Card; daughter-in-law Jean Card; and her grandchildren Samuel and Erin Card who are the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind brothers Cecil (Thud) Lee and Butch Manning (who recently passed on September 23, 2010); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an incredible bond with a unique and special group of women that she shared an amazing sisterhood.
Birtice was a very active business owner and partner in the farming and agricultural community along the Central Coast for over 30 years and will forever be known for her contributions to the community. She enjoyed traveling, holiday gatherings, good conversations, great friends and always welcomed an opportunity to play a poker machine whenever possible.
A celebration of life service and reception will be held on Saturday, October 9th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at White Hills Park at the corner of Hwy 135 and San Antonio Road in Santa Maria. Colorful and casual dress attire is requested to embrace her passion of the Coastal California lifestyle she truly enjoyed.
In lieu of flowers, the family would most appreciate a donation to the American Cancer Society or the organization of your choice in her memory. If you would like to post a picture or a note, please do so on Facebook for Birtice Card.

Randy, Sherman, Jean, Samuel, Erin and family. There are no words that will ever come to express how much I adored your mother as a friend and employer. She was an amazing woman and human being. For those of us whom had the opportunity to work closely with her, know what a valuable person she was. I will always rememeber her in heart & prayer. The Good Lord has gained another Angel in Heaven. I will always CHERISH our wonderful memories and hard work we accomplished together. God Bless You and Your Family in this time of Sorrow.
Lots of Love & Take Care
