Constance "Connie" Poquette was born November 12, 1922 in Springfield, Oregon and died at the age of 88 on November 15, 2010 in Orcutt, California.
She was the daughter of John Lloyd and Ruby Martha Hoiland.
Connie moved with her family to Seal Beach, California when she was young.
Connie graduated from Seal Beach Elementary School in 1936 and from Huntington Beach Union High School in 1940. She also attended Fullerton Evening Junior College, where she earned a Certificate of Completion in Electronics Fabrication in 1960.
On October 26, 1942, she married Clair Poquette in Las Vegas, Nevada. Connie and Clair had two children, Michael Poquette and Hope Jennifer (Poquette) Derrick.
Connie and Clair lived in Garden Grove and Seal Beach before moving to Santa Barbara County, where Connie resided until her death, mostly in Lompoc, but also in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Orcutt.
Connie worked as a beautician before her marriage. She worked as an Electronics Assembler at Hughes Aircraft Company, and as a collection agent at Montgomery Ward, Buffum's Department Store, and McMahan's Furniture Store.
Connie enjoyed music and loved to dance. She loved animals and had a special fondness for dogs. She swam in ocean while growing up in Seal Beach, and was very athletic, playing basketball in school.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Hope Derrick and son-in-law Peter Derrick, and daughter-in-law, Candice Poquette. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Christy, Gregg, Nathan, Dustin, Tania, and Brett, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Michael.
She was a loving mother, wonderful grandma, and nana. We love you and you will be missed.
A Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Lompoc Cemetery.
