Elden Sweet Obituary

Elden Lee Sweet
Elden Lee Sweet died on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Santa Maria. He was born October 9, 1920 and grew up in Old Orcutt. His parents were Mary and Walter Sweet.
Elden enlisted in the Army Air Force during WWII, and was a flight engineer on a B-17. When discharged he returned to Orcutt and became employed by Union Oil Co., and worked for them until retirement. He was also very active as a volunteer firefighter for the Orcutt Fire Department.
He was married to Verna Mitchell and they had 30 years wonderful years together, traveling to Hawaii, Idaho, Colorado, and many more places of interest.
Elden is survived by his step-children, Sandra Byrd and her husband Elwin, Larry Mitchell and his wife Jeannette, and three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.
Elden was preceded in death by his wife Verna Elden in 2001, sister Marie Sweet Dunlap and his brother Edward Sweet.
Per Elden's request, there will be no services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
