Leotie "Le" Shobar passed away in Santa Maria, CA. on November 6th, 2010 at the age of 92. Leotie was born February 9th, 1918 on her grandparents' ranch in Lamoille and loved the outdoors. Le loved to hunt, fish, and travel. She graduated from school in Lamoille and married her lifelong friend James on August 5th, 1933, she was 15 and James was 19 Leotie and James had one son, James Floyd Shobar, born September 8th, 1939.
Le worked on various ranches around Lamoille assisting with cooking and chores. During WWII Le and James bid on a rural mail route and got the contract for four years. The contract serviced two rural post offices, one in Lee and one in Lamoille with way boxes along the route. James worked in Elko for a contractor and Le handled the hauling that included everything from mail and grocery orders to 55 gal drums of gasoline and heating oil, and occasionally raw milk was hauled from ranches in Lamoille to the dairy in Elko. Passengers were also carried on the route. After the mail contract. Le worked as a checker at Safeway, Sewell's and People's Market. Prior to moving to Santa Maria, California in 1968, she worked nine years operating the TV Pix office in Elko, Nevada.
Le was preceded in death by her husband James and three brothers: Robert Lee, Oscar Roberson and John Roberson. James passed away on September 7th, 1986 in Kimberly, Idaho after 53 years of a wonderful, loving marriage.
Le's survivors include her son Jim and wife Nancy of Santa Maria, CA; three grandsons: Tony (Tamy) Shobar of Aransas Pass, TX, Time Shobar of San Jose, CA and Shane (Kristy) Shobar of North Bend, OR; brother Roy (Jane) Lee of Elko, NV; sister Myrtle (Lee) Orbe of Twin Falls, ID; several nieces and nephews; ten great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandson, born September 12th 2010 to great-granddaughter Stephanie (Bryson) Burns.
Thank you to the staff at Villa Maria Healthcare Center for the time that Le was a resident. Also, thank you to all the folks at the Santa Maria Union Plaza where Le called home for the last twenty-four years.
At Le's request, there will be no service. Her ashes will be scattered in the Ruby Mountains near Elko, Nevada at the same location of her beloved husband.
