Eunice Sneed Obituary

Eunice "Linda" Sneed
1943 – 2010
Family and friends mourn the loss of Eunice "Linda" Sneed, who passed away Saturday, November 6 from ovarian cancer.
Linda was born November 27, 1943 in Southern California; and grew up in South Gate. She attended St. Helen's Elementary School and Pius X High School, graduating in 1962. The following year she married her big brother's best friend, Terrence Sneed. The couple settled at first in Bell, California; then moved to Redondo Beach in 1969. In 1974, with the family now including four children, they moved to Santa Maria, where their youngest child, Mary, was born; they have lived there ever since.
As well as being a devoted wife and mother, Linda worked outside the home. She was a teacher's aide at Oakley Elementary School for several years, and a page at the Santa Maria Public Library. Most recently, she worked in the library at Fairlawn Elementary School, where she enjoyed helping children discover the joys of reading.
Linda enjoyed reading, both fiction and non-fiction. She enjoyed needlepoint, and looking at the heavens through her telescope. She had been researching her own and her husband's family genealogies for some time, tracing them back to the seventeenth century. Because she had a curious and eager mind, she enjoyed hearing about her children's various interests and pursuits.
She is preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Merlin "Bud" and Darlene McGovern. She is survived by Terrence, her husband of 47 years; daughter Mary Woltman and son-in-law Steve, of Albuquerque, with grandchildren Trinity, Noah and Sean; daughter Leslie Pinson and son-in-law Gene, of Aurora, Colorado, with grandson Jon; daughter Belinda Egan and son-in-law Bill, of San Jose, California, with grandchildren Allison and Terrence; son Sean of Germantown, Maryland; and son Brian of Long Beach, California.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at St. Louis deMontfort Church, followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010, also at St. Louis deMontfort Church. Interment will follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the care of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home and Crematory. Sympathy notes and words of support may be expressed at www.magnermaloney.com.
