Frances Moreno Obituary
The Angels came and took our mother home to the Lord on Nov. 10, 2010.
She was born to Ramon and Manuela Laguna on Feb. 4, 1922. She came to the United States at the age of 7 years old and lived in Tucson, AZ. At an early age she and her family moved around to various cities so her mother could look for work to provide her family with a better life. She settled in Holtville, CA where she met the "man of her dreams" and raised their family until they moved to Santa Maria. She worked in agriculture and at Union Holly Sugar until her retirement.
Her hobbies included gardening which she loved, knitting, sewing and was a devoted shopper with QVC.
She was married for 50 years to Jesus "Joe" Moreno and raised 6 kids.
She is survived by her children Frances Cano (Pete), Rosalie Martinez (Johnny), Gloria Castillo (Danny), Joey Moreno (Judy), Yolanda Medina (Sal) and Lorraine Valdez (Peter). She has 21 grandkids, 48 great-grandkids and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loving and special caregiver Christina Medina.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jesus "Joe" Moreno, her parents Ramon and Manuela Laguna, her sisters Mercedes Flores, Juanita Aguirre and Carmen Lopez, brother Ramon Laguna and grandson Paul Manuel Cano.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and the Rosary will be held Tuesday at 6:00 pm, both at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary. The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.
