Joan Riede Obituary
Joan D. Riede passed away on November 9, 2010 with her family by her side.
Joan was born January 28, 1937 in Chicago, IL and grew up near South Haven, Michigan. She moved to Riverside, CA in 1963 and worked for Sears in the display advertising dept. in Riverside and LA before going to work for the Herald News in Fontana, CA. She studied real estate at RCC and received her license in 1978. She moved to Santa Maria in 1984. Joan worked for several RE offices before becoming a broker and opened her own office as Joan Riede Real Estate Broker. She developed many friendships thru her work and she always made sure her clients were given the best service.
Joan loved to go camping and boating and was happiest when she was riding around the lake in her Searay. She enjoyed traveling across country in her motor home and stopping at all the casinos along the way.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents George Riede of MI and Gertrude Daffern of CA. Her brothers Walter, Leonard and Richard Riede and her sisters Laura and Toni Riede and Lois Laney.
She is survived by her best friend and partner Sharon, her sister Gloria (Ray) Stoltzner and Brother Victor Riede both of MI. and many nieces and nephews as well as her extended Family who loved her very much.
Her family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. DiCarlo and the wonderful chemo nurses and staff, Dr. Dabral and his caring staff and Dr. Untal and his office and surgical staff for all their support. Ena from Marian Hospice was wonderful as well as all of the Hospice staff and volunteers.
At her request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Joan's name be made to Marian Hospice 1400E. Church St. Santa Maria, CA 93454 or The Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary, Crematory and Memory Gardens.

It seems like many of my favorite memories while growing up have included "Joanbird". She will be dearly missed and always remebered. She always made a point of making any activity or get-together much more fun. I treasure the memories of her and wish everyone could have a friend or a favorite Aunt like Joanie. I'm really happy for the time we shared.

Sharon,
I am hoping you are coping with your loss, it is so hard. Even though you know the end is coming you are never ready. Joanie was such a kick.She will be missed by many. I am sure your many friends will comfort you during this difficult time.
