Jose Martinez Obituary

Jose Eliseo Martinez, Jr.
1933 – 2010
Jose Eliseo Martinez, Jr. 77, of Santa Maria, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010. He was born February 21, 1933 to Jose and Marina Martinez in Dixon, New Mexico where we was raised and educated with his eight brothers and sisters. In 1959, he met and instantly fell in love with Dorothy, with whom he married shortly after they met.
Jose and his family moved to California in 1965 after serving two years in the United State Army. He was a very hard worker up until the day he passed away. He enjoyed going for walks and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. While visiting with his family, he loved to talk! Jose enjoyed going to Sunday Mass at St. John Neumann with his daughter Matilda and also spending time with his little dogs. He loved watching old Doris Day movies and listening to her sing. He would watch them so often, that eventually his wife Dorothy couldn't stand to be in the same room while he watched them.
Jose is survived by his loving children Matilda and her husband Jose Munguia, Eva Martinez, Ronald and his wife Karen Martinez and Douglas Martinez. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters. Jose was preceded in death by his wife of 29 years, Dorothy Martinez who passed away in 1988, his son Thomas Martinez who passed away in 2000, his brothers Greg Martinez, Pete Martinez and his sister Bertha Martinez.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, October 5, 2010 in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 6, 2010 at St. John Neumann Church. Interment will follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery.
