Raol Piette Obituary

Raol A. Piette
1938 – 2010
Raol Piette was born in Los Angeles as the fifth of nine children. In 1961 he married Eleanor Bowers, the love of his life. Together they raised and loved 4 children. Their family grew to include their children-in-love and 6 grandkids. Raol and Eleanor were loved in turn by their children's and grandchildren's friends. He was a special man loved by most everyone he came in contact with and each of us will miss him greatly.
He worked for Martin Marietta Corporation at Vandenberg AFB for 35 years, starting as a janitor and retiring as a Mechanical Engineer. He was very proud of his work on the Titan missiles and also the Prime Project which was the precursor to the Space Shuttle.
He was involved with little league and scouting. He especially enjoyed BBQing as a member of the American Legion and other organizations. And he enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling, especially to Laughlin NV and its Colorado River.
A Rosary will take place at St. Louis de Montfort Church 1190 E. Clark Ave, Santa Maria on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, November 5, 2010 at St. Louis de Montfort Church at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice, St. Louis de Montfort Church or a charity of your choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home and Crematory. Sympathy notes and words of support may be expressed at www.magnermaloney.com.

Eleanor, we are so sorry to hear about Raol. Ron and I will never forget how welcoming you and Raol were from the moment we moved in next door. We will really miss talking to him as he "drives" by. You and the family are in our prayers. Melissa and Ron Espiritu

I was grateful to have the opportunity to meet Raol through the sharing during the service and the pictures at the house. It was easy to see that he was genuinely loved and respected by his family. I can see your dad in you Paul...the sense of humor, the desire to mentor, the love of family, and devotion to your wife. I'm so sorry Camille and Zoe will miss their grandpa as they grow up. But I know his memory will be kept alive in you for them. Love to all of you.

I never met the senior Mr. Piette, but I know he must have been a great dad to raise such a fine man as his son Paul. What a wonderful legacy. My sincere condolences, Suzy Elwell, Grizzly Youth Academy

Dearest Raol, I will miss you greatly. The first day I met you, you accepted me as a member of the amazing Piette family. I was lucky to have met you and hear your wisdom on life. I wish there was more time for you to share your experiences, but even in death, you have taught those close to you to never give up. You were a man with a tenacious soul and a heart bigger than most. I will always remember you waving from the garage to complete strangers. I will remember your laughter that filled a room. And most of all, I will remember how greatly, deeply and passionately you loved your family...I'm so fortunate to be a part of that bunch. I will miss you so, but I know you'll still be around us all. I love you, and thank you for loving me :) Have fun in Laughlin!!

There will be an empty chair at the holiday table this year, but it will be filled with loving memories.
