ROSE ANNETTE WALSH
Rose Annette Walsh, 87, passed away on December 4, 2010 after a short illness.
She was born January 21, 1923, the oldest daughter of her loving parents, Percy and Antoinette Stodden. The family left Butte, Montana in 1928 to make their home in Southern California, where Annette received her education. Two years after graduating from Eagle Rock High School in 1941, she joined the WAVES and served her country at the naval base in San Diego until the end of the Second World War. After returning home she continued her education at Glendale Community College and at a Los Angeles business college.
In 1948 she met and married Irvine Stephen Walsh, their life together ended in 1999 when Steve passed away. They had moved to Santa Maria in 1986 and enjoyed their retirement years here, establishing a new home and traveling. Annette was an avid gardener and a talented Bunka embroidery artist, who received many awards at local County Fairs for her colorful and creative designs.
Her great strength of character and her unshakable faith in God's goodness helped her towithstand many hard blows with courage and a beautiful smile. Tragically in 2008, Jeanne her beloved daughter died, followed shortly thereafter by her husband Jeffrey Gill. Annette is survived by her son Tom, her daughter Ellen; as well as grandsons Jeffrey (Heidi) Gill their family Ashley and Kyle, James (Shannon) Gill their children Jaime, Nikolas and Dylan; and her sister Eva Betz (William) and nieces Paula, Janet Betz and Susan (Larry) Tolson.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Louis De Montfort Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be in the Memory Gardens of the Dudley-Hoffman Columbarium.
