William Robb Obituary
William "Bill" Robb passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 75 on September 19, 2010 after an 11 year courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on October 14, 1934 in San Mateo to William Alexander Robb and Agnes Marian Robb. He grew up in southern California where he attended Manual Arts High School and Pierce Junior College. At Manual Arts, he was a four-year letterman in track and field. He enlisted and served in the United States Army where he continued his track career. He was passionate about, and followed competitive track and field all of his life.
He also loved body building and weight lifting; in 1957 he won the title of Mr. New Mexico. Bill lifted weights daily for over fifty years, where he developed many long-lasting friendships. His other passions included surfing, which began in his teens, pottery/ceramics, history and reading, skiing, caring for his plants, and giving a home to stray animals. Bill was an avid fan of the USC Trojans and Indy Car racing.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fresno State University in Agricultural Science. In 1967, he obtained a job with the County of Santa Barbara as an Agricultural Biologist, where he worked until he retired in 1992. In 1968 he married Maria, the love of his life, for the past 42 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria, his children, Gary 52, Tom 48, daughter-in-law, Stephanie, daughter Andrea 32, son-in-law Matthew and grandchildren Kyle, Kevin, Tyler and Alannah Robb, and most importantly his beloved dog Benny. Bill was very proud and loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in youth and high school sports. He loved being outdoors and spending time at the family lake house at Lake Nacimiento. During his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling and showing his 1999 custom Plymouth Prowler.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society. The family would like to thank Prostate Oncology in Marina Del Rey and Dr. Mudit Dabral for their thoughtful and devoted care. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge #1538 on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.

Maria and Family,
I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. You and Bill were the first two new friends I made when Vicki and I moved here in 1976. You may remember standing and waiting for Edgar Hall to unlock the door for a ski club meeting. As we talked while we waited, we discovered we lived only a block apart. I'll never forget the many ski trips, Bill's hilarious antics, hundreds of neighbor-to-neighbor conversations and working out at the gym while being entertained by his endless and sometimes ridiculous tales . We're gonna miss that guy.

A great person has left us. It was always a crack up being with him talking to him. He would make you laugh about things you didn't even know about. I am saddened about his passing, but at the same time I am honored to have met a person who put up such a great fight against the big C. Best wishes, Beto.

Maria and Family, My condolences to you, Bill had such an rare and outgoing personality and was such a great humaitarian all of that will live through his legacy. Thanks to Bill he has taught those of us that knew him well , and he will always be rememberd in our hearts and more importantly in ours souls as a "hero", as a "mentor" as a "companion" as a "friend" and as a great human being. Bill taught us how to enjoy the best of what life has to offer. Thank you Bill, and you will always be remember and missed.

My condolences to the Robb Family. I grew up down the street from your home and always enjoyed talking with Bill while he was out walking with the dogs. He always had a fun and interesting story to share with the kids of the neighborhood. He was a good man I am very sorry for your loss.
