Floyd Naatz

Floyd C. ‘Sonny' Naatz Greenfield Center - Floyd C. ‘Sonny' Naatz, 85, of Wing Road, died Tuesday evening, March 26, 2013 at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs. Born on September 14, 1927 in Lake Luzerne, he was the son of Floyd and Ethel (Clark) Naatz. He attended Corinth High School. He served as a Seaman 2nd Class in the United States Navy during World War II earning the Victory Medal prior to his Honorable Discharge in March 1946. Sonny married Elizabeth ‘Betty' Sullivan on January 12, 1970. Mrs. Naatz died on June 15, 2008. He worked at D& H Railroad as an Engineer for over thirty years prior to his retirement in 1989. In his earlier years, he had worked in the logging industry and as a mechanic. Sonny enjoyed traveling to Florida with Betty in their motor home and spending time at their log cabin in Olmstedville that he had built by hand on Trout Brook. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and attending numerous bluegrass festivals. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Naatz; a daughter, Theresa Davis, and a sister, Helen. Survivors include two sons, John ‘Jack' (Jamie) Burt of Windsor, NY and Jerry (Vicki) Feulner of Porter Corners; three sisters, Betty (George) Sheldon of Florida, Theresa Hayes of South Glens Falls, Ginny Langworthy of Queensbury; a brother-in-law, Charlie Davis of Corinth; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Friends may call Saturday from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. at the Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne. Funeral services will be conducted 2p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Osborne, pastor of the Hadley Luzerne Wesleyan Church, officiating. Sonny's family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all the staff at Wesley Health Care Center. Spring burial will be in Federal Flats Cemetery, Olmstedville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his loving memory to Wesley Heath Care Center, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
