SARATOGA SPRINGS - On September 4, 2013, Walter Calvin Robinson passed away at his home in Saratoga Springs, N/Y. He was 88.
Walter was a veteran of World War II
and recipient of the Purple Heart
and Good Conduct Medal. He fought in many battles, including D Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He was the son of Albert and Elsie Robinson of Bloomfield, N.J., and the youngest of their four children.
During his career as a special agent for Empire Mutual, he was awarded the "Field Man of the Year" designation. He had a reputation as a knowledgeable and responsive resource for many insurance agents throughout northern and central New Jersey. Walter also served as a volunteer fireman
in Pequannock, N.J. for Engine Company No. 2.
Known locally, after retirement, he was an active member of the Golden K Seniors of Saratoga Springs and enjoyed giving his time to make a difference. Walter's great passion for the outdoors and adventure led him to take nine trips by mule down the Grand Canyon.
Walter is survived by his sister Charlotte Beers; nephews Ken Beers and his wife, Pam, of Saratoga Springs and Paul W. Robinson and his wife, Lana, of Baltimore, Md.; niece Cindy Karst of Bethesda, Md.; grand-nieces Jessica Renzi of Malta and Kirsten Deitz of West Hartford, Conn.; and great-grand-niece, Cadence Renzi of Malta.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. September 23, 2013, at Saratoga National Cemetery. Everyone is invited to follow in procession from Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, at 9:30 a.m.
