Scott Smith Obituary

PORTER CORNERS - Scott Smith, husband, father and friend, died peacefully Saturday, March 10, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family and the people he loved.
He started his life July 31, 1957, in Rochester. As a young man, he moved to his adopted hometown of Saratoga Springs where he married the love of his life and started and raised his beautiful family.
Scott was also a highly accomplished athlete, artist, musician and craftsmen. He spent many happy hours working at the Collamer Building in Saratoga Springs.
All who had the gift of his company loved Scott. His life made a difference in this world. His strength of character, wisdom and positive nature left us with a lasting and meaningful path to follow.
He was predeceased by his mother, Valerie.
Scott is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kim; his children, Ben and his wife, Marjanna, Emilie and Ryan; his father, George Smith of Rochester; his brother, Steve Smith of Florida; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Ellie Spencer of Middleburgh.
His family would like to thank all who contributed to the success of the recent "For the Love of Scott" benefit event. It brought joy to his heart and comfort to his family.
Our community is poorer because of his passing and his light will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Armer Funeral Home Inc., 39 E. High St., Ballston Spa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Scott was a good man and he made me proud to have him as a brother. He was a kind hearted man with a strong will who always wanted to correct the wrongs he incountered in life. He loved his family more than anything. Next to his family, he loved nature, and looked at everything from an artist point of view,as if he was looking at it for the first time.He faced his fate with more optimism and courage than anyone could imagine. I learned a lot from him and will love him always. Although he is gone, he will be a part of me always. LOVE YA BROTHER, Steve

Dear Scott - I am glad that the last time I saw you, I could play you a song that you liked. It meant a lot to me to see you have fun with your family and friends. You were a rock for your loving wife while she was being your rock. You showed anyone wise enough to truly see - exactly how a love should be. You will be sorely missed in this community, but especially by the ones who held you the tightest every day.
