SARATOGA SPRINGS - Conrad Donald Stephenson, 85, passed away April 25, 2013, at Saratoga Hospital as a result of a fall.
Born May 14, 1927, to Conrad E. Stephenson and Elizabeth M. Bryan in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was raised in St. Albans, Queens.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He earned degrees from Fordham University and New York University before joining Chase in 1950. He thrived on his banking career, but the love of the military called and he re-enlisted in the Army Reserves, achieving the rank of colonel before retiring in 1987.
A New York City Real Estate Construction financier at Chase, he is remembered for his brilliant career and relationship deals with major developers, which greatly contributed to the New York City skyline.
After retiring from Chase, Stephenson became a consultant at Ist Chicago and Reckson Corp.
His love of international travel took him around the world a few times.
A philanthropic leader, Stephenson was deeply involved in the Realty Foundation of New York City, as well as many prominent charities, foremost, National Jewish Hospital for Respiratory and Immunology in Denver, Colo.
He is survived by his wife, Judi; his children, Kathleen and Brian, from a previous marriage; and two stepsons, Marc and Lance Shelton.
Burial with full military honors and escort was held Monday, April 29, 2013, at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
