James M Wilkins Malta - James M Wilkins 68, passed away on Tuesday April 15, 2014. Born in Arlington, VA on January 26, 1946, he was the son of the late John Philip and Dorothy (Balcom) Wilkins. James was a graduate of Linton High School in Schenectady and also Spencer Business College where he received a Draftsman Degree. James was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War. During his service, he was twice wounded in action receiving the Purple Heart among several service medals. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 357 in Schenectady and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. James and his wife, Sandra enjoyed the outdoors and traveled quite extensively throughout the United States. Their goal was to visit every national park. He liked camping in his RV, hiking, fishing and playing cards and most of all, being with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband. In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and John Wilkins. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Wilkins of Malta; his children, Brenda Ganance of Arizona, Richard Wescott of Ballston Spa, Tina DePault of Arizona and Cindy Reed of Ballston Spa; his sister, Linda Marek; his brother, Jesse Wilkins; 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday April 22 at the Armer Funeral Home Inc. 39 East High St., Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park on Central Ave in Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 21 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
