Louis V. Guido Rock City Falls - Louis V. Guido, 80, of Rock City Falls passed away peacefully Saturday, April 12, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Born in Ballston Spa, March 20, 1934, Lou was the son of the late Ralph and Peggy Guido. He graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1938 and later attended college at RPI. Lou was an outstanding high school athlete; lettering in four different sports (football, basketball, track, tennis). Prior to graduating from college, Lou joined the Army and served during the Korean War. Upon returning from the service he began employment with the General Electric Co. in Utica, NY. After a short time in Utica, Lou transferred to the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL). While working at KAPL and raising a family, Lou attended college at night and ultimately earned his Engineering Degree. Lou ended a long, successful career at KAPL, retiring as a manager at the West Milton Kesselring Site. During his retirement, Lou enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his dogs, and traveling to the University of Notre Dame to watch football games. Lou was predeceased by his eldest son, and leaves behind his loving wife Geraldine of 51 years, two sons, a daughter, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be private, at the request of the family.
