Della M. Groom Ballston Spa - Della M. Groom 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Born in Ballston Spa, October 31, 1930 she was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Perkins. Della started her career at Van Raalt’s in Saratoga Springs and later worked for Saratoga County in the Tax Department, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Saratoga County Infirmary. Della was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa for over 50 years. She enjoyed dancing, painting and camping. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Groom, 17 brothers and sisters, a grandson and a great granddaughter. Della is survived by her daughters, Leslie Charbonneau (David) of Ballston Spa and MaryAlice Jenkins-Herrington (Tommie) of Newark; her grandchildren, Brian Charbonneau (Lisa), Lesley Carne (Nathan), Janelle Shillito (Arthur), Heather Leiby (Benjamin), Erick Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins, Michael Jenkins, Elisabeth Decker (Brandon), L. Andrew Jenkins, Richard Jenkins and Joel Jenkins, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10-12 noon Saturday, February 22 at the First Baptist Church, 202 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at 12 noon. A private family burial will be in Ballston Spa Cemetery.
