Dorothy W. Ash Saratoga Springs, NY – Dorothy W. Ash passed away at Saratoga Hospital, with her family at her side, Monday, September 3, 2012. Dorothy was born in Utica, NY on November 12, 1928 to Ernest and Mary (Schiller) Wendler. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School and the nursing program at the former Utica Memorial Hospital. In 1969 she moved with her family to Saratoga Springs. Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at Saratoga Hospital, finally retiring at the age of 72 in 2001. Affectionately known as “Frick,” she loved being around her family and was always there when needed. She enjoyed working outdoors, traveling around the world, fine dining, and attending theater and Philadelphia Orchestra performances. She surprised her family by forming a special bond with “her” golden retriever Zumi during the past few years. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Earl Ash and two brothers, Fran and John Wendler. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her survivors, two sons, Jim (Judi) Ash and Dick (Sandy Hennigan) Ash; two daughters, Barbara Ash and Nancy (Dan) Paquette all of Saratoga Springs; brothers Larry (Betty) Wendler, Ted (Lou) Wendler, and Bob (Liz) Wendler; sisters-in-law Carol Wendler and Pattie Wendler; her seven grandchildren, Scott (Christina) Hirazumi, Chris (Kristen) Paquette, Sean Paquette, Kira Paquette, Colleen (Rob) Bruley, Lynn (Jeff) Pohl and Ashley Hennigan; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 7:30pm Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will follow at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
