GALWAY - Douglas Paul Seholm Sr., the only child of Albert and Katherine Seholm, was born April 14, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home in Huntsville, Texas.

He attended Cornell University and graduated from Union College, class of 1957, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and held the position of grand scribe.
Douglas served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic.
He worked at U.S. Catheter and Instrument Co. in Glens Falls. He was chairman and CEO of Universal Medical Instrument Corp. in Ballston Spa, and chairman of the Eastern Division of New York Beef Cattlemen's Association. Douglas also served on the Galway Ambulance board in Galway; the Saratoga Hospital Foundation in Saratoga Springs; the Adirondack Home Health Aides Association; and Ballston Spa National Bank.
He was a member of the West Charlton Presbyterian Church in West Charlton.
Most recently, he was a contract driver for Team Dodge in Huntsville, Texas.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Barbara Grady Seholm; son Brian and his wife, Carolyn; son Doug Jr. and his wife, Valerie; daughter Siri and her husband, Robert; daughter Katherine (Katie); daughter Amanda and her husband, Jason; son Erik and his wife, Kristin; grandchildren Trevor, Niles, Hannah, Caroline and Garrett; and his pups, Bug and Toad. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
Arrangements were provided by the Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, 2034 West St., Galway, NY 12074.
Burial will be held at the West Charlton Cemetery in West Charlton and will be private for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter and Humane Society, 530 Bearkat Blvd., Huntsville, TX 77340.
