Garry J. Nierotka GALWAY - Garry Nierotka, 68, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Mercedes, his son Scott (Elizabeth), and granddaughter, Katerina, and a daughter, Michelle. He was also survived by a sister, Nancy (Kenneth) Van Slyke, and a brother-in-law, John (Mary) Ficzere, and 4 nephews. He was preceded by his parents, Edward and Gladys Nierotka. After 40 years working at GE in Schenectady, Garry retired and persued his love of gardening and growing garlic, getting the nickname of “Garlic Garry” from his friends that bought it from him. Garry dearly loved working outside and helping others. In lieu of flowers, Garry would have appreciated a donation to either The Galway Ambulance Corp. or The Galway Fire Department. A celebration of Garry’s life is being planned for June. Arrangements are entrusted to The Richard J. Ryan Funeral Home, 2034 West Street, Galway, NY.
