CLIFTON PARK - Marcella Spaeth Devereaux of Clifton Park, formerly of St. Louis, Mo., died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.

Born Aug. 15, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Estelle Spaeth and the wife of the late Philip Devereaux.
Marcella was a longtime resident of Clifton Park.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Conrad Spaeth, and her sister, Jeanette Towers.
Marcella was a homemaker who took great pride in her children and enjoyed having fun with them.
After her children were reared, she worked for Schatz Stationary store for a long time. Marcella was very proud of her first job out of high school as secretary to the factory superintendent at Curtis Wright. She was a 25-year member of the Shenendehowa Garden Club.
She played bridge weekly with her friends and volunteered for many years for the Little Sisters of the Poor in Latham.
Marcella also enjoyed taking water aerobics classes at the YMCA.
She enjoyed her many visits to see her daughters in Michigan as well as her son in New York City. She loved living close to her daughter and family in Saratoga Springs.
She was a member of St. Edward's Church for 47 years.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Michele Devereaux (Tom Burkstrand) of Monroe, Mich., Philip Devereaux (Heidi Eros) of New York, Mary Strevel (Lloyd) of Newport, Mich., and Margaret Ida (Jed) of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah, Madeline, Kevin, Nicholas, Stefanie, Julia and Jasmine; and her great-grandchildren, Sean and Breann.
Marcella's family would like to thank her good friend Amey Cooper for her loving care over the past year.
Her family would also like to thank Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center and Ellis Hospital (A-3) for their kindness and compassion toward Marcella in the last weeks of her life.
A gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at St. Edward's Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, with a funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
Donations may be made in Marcella's name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110.
