SCHUYLERVILLE - Matthew K. Furlani, 28, a resident of Church Street, died tragically Sunday, July 1, 2012, at his home.

Born Feb. 15, 1984, in Rensselaer, he was the son of Richard Furlani (Lisa Wander) of Schuylerville and Christina Harwood Downey of Rensselaer.
He attended Schuylerville Central High School.
Matthew had been employed as a cook with his father at Mac's Diner in Schuylerville and had worked with his uncle, Rob Furlani, at Sonny's Restaurant in Round Lake for many years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. His dogs were an important part of his life.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Mario Furlani and George Harwood; his son, Lucius Mario Furlani; and his sibling, Luther Wander.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his paternal grandmother, Anna Mae Furlani; maternal grandmother, Barbara Harwood; siblings Ashley Downey, Joshua Downey, Catherine Downey, Ariel Wander, Celia Rivera, Teddy Eichler and Lilly Eichler; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew; and many loyal friends, including his best friend, Troy Cassell of Schuylerville.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, following the service.
