Pat Murphy Chicago, IL - Pat Murphy died on 5/29/2013 in Chicago following a long battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Saratoga High, Class of 69'. A life tragically cut short before he was able to achieve many goals he had in mind to pursue in his anticipated retirement years. A competitive athlete all through the years of his youth, he was still, past the age of sixty, a physical fitness devotee in excellent health when he was diagnosed with cancer. As he had during his high school and college years, playing on school sports teams, he put up a game fight, but in this instance, against an opponent that he could not best, which is how everyone ultimately succumbs to death in the end. Though he sought opportunity elsewhere, earning a Master's degree in film from UCLA, he regretted leaving friends behind in the Saratoga and Albany area and he always considered this region of New York State as his real home. He was a Saratogian paperboy for two years. Pat loved sports, had a passion for film and for progressive politics. His great pride was his collection of over 3,000 films on videotape. He was preceded in death by his father Leo Murphy in September of 2012. He is survived by his wife of twenty five years Joanne and daughter Monique; By his mother Jean, brothers Mike, Tim, Dan, Jimmy, Paul and John and sisters Nancy, Eliza, and Kathryn. He will be greatly missed by his family members and many friends he made in the course of a lifetime. Any of his friends who would care to offer any remembrances, please do so on guest book, or call his twin brother Mike at (314) 616-7630 during evening hours. He would be most grateful to hear from you and pass your sentiments along to all in his immediate family who wish to keep memories of him alive.
