Steven (Steve) R. Krauss Saratoga Springs, NY - Steven (Steve) R. Krauss of Nelson Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY died Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital after a short illness. He was 65 years old. Born on February 2, 1949 in Sheboygan, WI, he was the son of the late Richard Krauss and Rosemary Roth Krauss. Mr. Krauss was a self-employed Landscaper in the city of Saratoga Springs for many years. He was known as the “Planter of Trees” and has a wonderful green thumb. He had a passion for gardening and believed that everyone should plant a tree. He also was an artist in the area. Steve was an activist for homeless dogs and dedicated time to rehabilitating them and readying them for adoption. His nickname to his friends and family was “the Dog Father”. He loved horse racing and baseball and the history of those sports. In the past he was a collector and dealer of baseball cards. Steve also enjoyed to go to yard sales and finding antiques. In his leisure he was an avid cook. Steve is survived by his wife Jenny whom he married on March 12, 1983, he is additionally survived by his brother Joseph Krauss and his wife Kristin of Cleveland, OH, three sisters, Deborah Krauss Regan of Bedminster, NJ, Jane Krauss Girdosky and her husband Charles of Tucson, AZ, and Annie Krauss Nymann and her husband Don of Madison, WI, his step mother Mary Krauss of Milwaukee, WI, several nieces and nephews and his dogs, Nellie, Hick, Mercy, Gypsy, Hermit, Radar, and Bingo. He is predeceased by his sister Marcia Krauss and his dog Katie. Memorial services are today at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 149 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY at 9 am.
