Wayne Francis Lis Obituary
Wayne Francis Lis SARATOGA SPRINGS- Wayne Francis Lis, 57, passed away peacefully of natural causes Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at his home in Saratoga Springs, NY. Wayne was born September 8, 1954 to Francis and Miriam (Walsh) Lis in Yonkers, NY. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1972 and moved to upstate NY where he later joined the Saratoga Springs Police Department in 1976, ultimately dedicating his life to the Saratoga Springs Fire Department in 1979 and retired in 2006. He spent some of his retired years working in the Saratoga Springs Public Library where he made a reputation for himself as quite a character. He could talk to anyone and usually did. He thrived on historical and scientific documentaries and would challenge anyone to a crossword puzzle. Wayne particularly loved his puzzles while laying at one of the ocean beaches listening to the breaking water or during sunrise on Mayo Beach in Cape Cod reflecting upon wonderful memories of his youth and parents at the bay. Check the tides, ride the waves and be free Dad. We will love and miss you always. See you at the beach, adu! Wayne is survived by his son, Corey Lis; son, Shane (Mary) Lis; daughter, Naomi (Brian) Bourque; grandchildren, Ryan Lis, Maggie and Patrick Lis, Aidan and Colin Bourque; ex-wife Florence (Barca) Wheeler; brothers, Eric (Teri), Kirk (Susie), Glenn (Mary) and Craig (Erin) Lis; sisters, Donna (Wayne) Martell and Darcy (Ed) Beglane; and numerous beautiful nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Church of St, Peter in Saratoga Springs at 10:00 am. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 11, 2012 in the Chapel at Church of St. Peter.
