Wayne K. Nichols Saratoga Springs - Wayne K. Nichols 52, M-SGT-USAF, a native of Saratoga Springs, passed away Friday, December 20th. Following his retirement from the US Air Force after 20 years, he made his home in Palm Harbor Florida. During his Military career he was awarded, Air Force Commendation metal; Air Force Longevity service metal; Air Force training ribbon; Air Force Overseas long tour ribbon; National defense service metal; NCO Academy graduate; NCO leadership Academy; supervisory development graduate; Air Force basic military honor graduate ribbons; small arms expert marksmanship ribbon/rifle; NCO professional military education ribbon; Air Force outstanding unit award and the Air Force Good conduct medal. After his distinguished military career, he joined the Pinellas County Sheriff Office and worked for 10 years and then retired as a Detention Deputy. He is predeceased by his father Harold H. Nichols, mother Dorothy A. Reynolds, Sister Carolyn J. Nichols, all of Saratoga Springs. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Morgan, three children, Casey, Brett and Katie Nichols, all of Palm Harbor, Florida. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Nichols and five sisters, Deborah Tomaso, Denise Vardererese, Julie Parker, Kelly Rychcik and Brenda Baker, several nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday January 10th at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY The US Air Force and the Saratoga Cemetery Honor Guard will officiate the service. Please arrive at the cemetery between 1:30 and service time and send all floral arrangements directly to the cemetery.
