GLENS FALLS - William O'Connell of The Stanton in Glens Falls died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013. He was 69.

Born March 14, 1943, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Timothy S. O'Connell and Mary Ahearn O'Connell.
Mr. O'Connell was a 1961 graduate of St. Peter's High School.
After graduating, William entered the seminary for three years before leaving and furthering his studies in the education field. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Fordham University in New York and his Ph.D. from Webster University.
He returned to Saratoga Springs and became a guidance counselor at St. Peter's Academy. He and a group of men created Saratoga Ambassadors, which was a drum and bugle corps. They would play at various events and parades.
In his leisure, William enjoyed playing golf, especially at his family's golf outing.
Survivors include a brother, Dennis O'Connell and his wife, Gloria Fina, of Suffern; four nephews, Dennis, Brian, Michael and Terrence O'Connell; and four cousins, Dr. Morris O'Connell, Mrs. Gail Darden, J. Michael O'Connell and Maureen O'Connell Godlewski.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Peter's Church on Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
Friends and family may call from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
