Mary E. Stevens Mahoney TROY – Mary E. Stevens Mahoney, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late R. Stanley Stevens and Edna Beaupre Stevens and wife of the late Hon. Justin J. Mahoney, former United States Attorney and Chief Federal Bankruptcy Court Judge. A lifelong Troy resident, she was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and attended Russell Sage College. She left her position in the President’s Office at State University to devote her energies to raising her family. Mary will be remembered as a gracious, thoughtful, compassionate and generous woman who treasured her family and friends. Her exuberance for life will be missed by all who knew her. For the last twenty years, Mary split her time between Troy and Jensen Beach, Florida. She was a member of the Country Club of Troy. Survivors include her children M. Lynne Mahoney of Troy, Justin S. Mahoney of Chestertown, NY, Kathleen A. Mahoney of Carolina, RI, Michael J. Mahoney of Brewster, NY, three grandsons Justin T. Mahoney, Ryan M. Mahoney and Jack W. Mahoney and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Laurel Sage Mahoney, her sister T. Doris Russell, two brothers Clifford J. Stevens and Robert S. Stevens. Funeral services will be 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh and at 9:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration Parish, 50 Hillview Drive, Speigletown where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.
