Doris M. Cassedy BALLSTON SPA-Doris M. Cassedy, former longtime resident of Greenfield Center, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2010 at Maplewood Manor Nursing Home in Ballston Spa. She was 98 years old. Born on October 5, 1912, in Halfmoon, she was the daughter of the late Henry K. Cassedy and Grace Darrow Cassedy. Mrs. Cassedy was a graduate of Mechanicvile High School and Mildred Elley School of Business. She was employed at the Saratoga Fur Farm and for many years as a secretary at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory at West Milton. She married her husband Spencer D. Cassedy on April 26, 1966. He passed away on September 11, 1973. Doris was a member of the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church and active in Ruth Circle. She was predeceased by her husband; a step-daughter Eleanor Leggett of Mechanicvile; brother George Cassedy; and sister-in-law Ora Cassedy of Delaware. Survivors include a step-daughter Laura Bitter of Tryon, NC; nephews David Cassedy of Philadelphia, PA, Brian Cassedy of Lodge, SC, and Gary Cassedy of Clayton, DE; one great nephew; one great niece; 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Also survived by special cousin, Shirley Betts of Queensbury. A memorial service will be held at the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 30th at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Hudson View Cemetery in Mechanicville. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church,175 Fifth Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. The family wishes to thank the staff at Maplewood Manor for the loving care that Doris received over the last four years.
