Robert Hawthorne Obituary
Robert D. Hawthorne STILLWATER-Robert D. Hawthorne passed away suddenly, Tuesday, March 22, 2011. Born September 25, 1937, Bob was the son of the late Guy and Suzy Ferguson Hawthorne of Saratoga Springs. A Saratoga Springs High School graduate, he served in the U.S. Air Force. After honorable discharge, he worked for D&H and CP Railroad, until retirement. Bob was married to Carole Wimet in 1959 who passed away in 1992. Known as "Hatty" to close family and friends, Bob enjoyed socializing with his railroad buddies, his part-time job at the Stillwater Beef Jerky, following the horses and especially time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his brother, John "Jack" Hawthorne and his sister, Jane Fuller. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jane (Barbolt Simmons) Hawthorne and his children, Renee (Thomas) Capone of Glens Falls, Richard (Janine) Hawthorne of Saratoga Springs; stepchildren, Wayne (Terry) Simmons of Stillwater, Wendy (John) Treacy of Mechanicville; and ten grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother Guy "Blondie" Hawthorne; sisters Helen Smead and Doris Hawthorne; sister-in-law Grace Hawthorne all of Saratoga Springs, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery.
