Linda Adair Day

Linda Adair Day Linda Adair Day, a visual artist and Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at California State University, Long Beach passed away peacefully at her San Pedro home early on Wednesday, August 24th following a long battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her work can be seen in two current exhibitions: a solo show, "OU-BOUM," at another year in LA, a West Hollywood gallery; and a group show, "5: on paper" at the Warschaw Gallery in San Pedro. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Linda earned a B.A. from Colby College and an M.F.A. from Pratt Institute before embarking on a career that saw her work exhibited at galleries throughout the country as well as collected privately and by museums. Among her awards were grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and multiple residency fellowships at The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. Before earning tenure at Cal State Long Beach, she taught at UCLA, USC, and Otis Institute of Art. Linda is survived by her husband, David Scardino, of San Pedro; her mother, Jean Bonnell Day of Damariscotta, Maine; her sisters, Elizabeth Day Flynn of Gansevoort, New York, and Amy Day Chase of Center Sandwich, New Hampshire; her nephew, David Flynn, a student at Alfred University, and niece, Emma Flynn, a student at Marist College. A memorial service will be held at another year in LA on Friday, September 9th, from 1 to 3 PM and is open to the public. In addition, an endowed scholarship in Linda's name at Cal State Long Beach is currently being funded and donations can be sent to Arlene Kauppi; College of the Arts - CSULB; 1250 Bellflower Boulevard; Long Beach, CA 90840-2004.
