Barbara H. Muller Jackson, NY - Barbara H. Muller, 80, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday morning, January 29, 2014 at The Springs Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Troy. Born January 21, 1934 in Salem, she is the daughter of the late D. LeRoy and Bernice (Brown) Rich. Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Salem Washington Academy. She continued her education by attending Geneseo Teacher’s School graduating in 1955. Barbara earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University. Barbara worked at Central School in Mamaroneck, NY from 1956 to 1966. She then worked at the Schuylerville Central School for a few years and then was the school librarian from 1969 to 2003 for The City of Saratoga Springs School District working at Division Street and also Maple Avenue schools. Barbara loved to help the school children enjoy reading. Barbara loved to read and play the piano, sewing, knitting, gardening, baking and feeding and watching the birds. She was a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Salem. In addition to her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by her husband, Alfred C. Muller who passed away in 1999; a daughter, H. Elisabeth Muller who passed away in 1986 and a sister, June A. Rich who also passed away in 1986. She is survived by her son, Douglas A. Muller and his companion, Doreen Nugent of Jackson; a brother, Graham Rich and his wife Betsy of Wilmington, DE; a grandson, Ryan Muller of Glenmont, NY; nieces and nephews, Stacey Stanko and her husband Jim, Paula Dohl and her husband Dan, Jim Rich and William Davidson and his wife Jane; two cousins, Sheldon Brown and his wife Julie of Salem and Judy Carey of Massachusetts.. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Salem, 13 West Broadway, Salem. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Salem at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Barbara may be made to the H. Elisabeth Muller Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Greenwich High School, 10 Gray Ave., Greenwich, NY 12834.
