Williard Tuten Obituary

Mr. Willard Isaac Tuten - PAUKIE ISLAND, SC - Mr. Willard Isaac Tuten, 75, of Harvey's Bend on Paukie Island, SC, died early Sunday morning March 17, 2013 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Born June 19, 1937 in Grays, SC, he was the son of the late Gowin Tuten and Allean Walsh Tuten. Mr. Tuten served his county as a Sargent in the National Guard for 11 years and retired from Westinghouse Corp. after 22 years as a correspondent. He attended Sand Hill Baptist Church, was a member of the Walterboro Moose Lodge & Elks Club, and was an avid Washington Redskin fan. He was known to his friends as the Paukie Piddler and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Tuten is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Lynda Mew Tuten of the home, two sons: Terrill N. Tuten and wife Sarie of Barnwell, SC, and W. Gowin Tuten and wife Debbie of Beaufort, SC, two daughters: Felisha T. Anderson of Winder, GA, and Vivian T. Tunstall and husband David of Varnville, SC, seven grandchildren: Huxford Anderson, Hogan Anderson, Dr. Neill Tuten, Brittany T. Kalivas and husband Ben, Christoper Tunstall, Kristin Tunstall and Lorrie Cook, one great-grandchild, Ryan Cook, and one brother-in-law, Edward C. Mew and wife Carolyn of Brunson, SC. Mr. Tuten was predeceased by one brother, Thomas G. Tuten. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 19, 2013 at 3 P.M. in the chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sand Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home located at 300 Mulberry St. West, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-3352) on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday after 1 P.M. prior to the service. Memorials in his memory may be directed to the Sand Hill Cemetery Association, 111 Mary St., Hampton, SC 29924.
