The debt our Nation and the world owes every one of our WWII veterans can never be measured, much less ever repaid. Every flag in the nation should be at half staff for each one's passing. They truly were The Greatest Generation, but not only for winning victory with odds that were far from certain of success, but also for what they did after returning home, by getting back to the business of making a life, raising families, and working to make this country the greatest on earth over the next 4 decades. May LTC Jiran rest in eternal peace, and a grateful nation recall his service for eternity.
Please accept our condolences for the loss of your hero.
Our WWII Memorial on River Street is a tangible token of our appreciation for his service. I wish there was a brick there with his name on it, but it is still possible to get one if desired..
I regret I will miss his funeral on Saturday, because I must drive my WWII Veterans Bus on Saturday to take a group of Airborne veterans to the 8th Air Force Museum.
