Betty Williams

Betty O. Williams - SAVANNAH - Betty Oxford Williams, 85, of Savannah, Georgia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Friday afternoon, November 16, 2012, while under the care of Hospice Savannah. Born in Morganton North Carolina in 1927, she was a daughter of Dewey Oxford and the late Grace Naomi Coffee Oxford. Mrs. Williams moved to Savannah 1952 with her husband and children. She was a homemaker and a retired real estate agent having worked with Lucas Realty. Mrs. Williams was a longtime member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. She and her husband were charter members of the Kensington Park Neighborhood Association. Mrs. Williams was also a member of the Kensington Park Garden Club and the FFF Bridge Club for many years. She was a former volunteer with Candler Hospital in Savannah and a Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts of America. Betty lived a gentle life of grace and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edward Williams, a son, John Randolph Williams, and a brother, Richard Oxford. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Johnson and her husband, Patrick, of Ellabell, Georgia and Karen L. Connelly and her fianc ', Duane Miller, of Savannah, Georgia; a son, Michael Williams and his wife, Connie, of Savannah, Georgia; her sister, Ella Mae Oxford Snipes of Greenville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church conducted by The Reverend Jess Reeves.
