Mr. James Elijah Moore, Sr. - BRUNSWICK - Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. James Elijah Moore, Sr. age 91, of Brunswick, on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Oconee Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. D. L. Parker officiating. Interment will be in the Moore Family Cemetery in Nunez, Georgia, with Marine Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening January 7, 2013, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Pallbearers: Mr. Keith Hooks; Mr. Mike Bowen; Mr. James Elijah Moore, III; Mr. Robert Humphrey Ryals; Mr., Al Moore; Mr. Tim Moore and Mr. Courtney Terwilliger. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Mr. Moore was a native of Emanuel County; a U.S. Marine Veteran of World War II; a Member of Wesley United Methodist Church; member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Georgia; Past President of Folkston Lions Club; he was co-owner of South Georgia Timber Company in Folkston, Georgia; co-owner of Emanuel County Live Stock Market; past Investigator with the Emanuel County Sheriff's Department; a life member of the Wild Turkey Federation; and a retired farmer. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents: John Elijah and Eileen Cook Moore. Survivors include: Two daughters: Joann Eileen Moore of St. Simons Island, Ga. and Chris M. (Bill) Hodges of Millen, Ga.; One Son: James Elijah Lige Moore, Jr. and wife, Jan of Swainsboro, Ga.; One Sister: Mamie M. Terwilliger of Swainsboro, Ga.; Six Grandchildren: James Elijah Moore, III of Swainsboro, Ga.; Margo M. (Mitchell) Riner of Swainsboro, Ga.; Robert Humphrey Ryals of St. Simons Island, Ga.; Cassie H. Black of Jacksonville, Florida; Whitney H. (Tim) John of Statesboro, Ga., and Lee H. (Rocky) of Waynesboro, Ga.; One Great Grandchild: Caitlin John of Statesboro, Ga.; Three Nephews, Special Friend: Bettye McGuire of Brunswick, Ga.
