Richard Dick Murray Armstrong - SAVANNAH - Richard Dick Murray Armstrong passed away early Friday morning, March 29, 2012 after a long illness. He was 76. He was predeceased by his father, Joel L. Armstrong; his mother, Iva P. Armstrong Spivey; and his brother, Joel L. Armstrong, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Sandy F. Armstrong; their son, Keith R. Armstrong; a sister, Ann Armstrong Turner; two aunts, Isabelle P. Fall Mahany and Nell P. Carlson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Richard Dick was a 1955 graduate of Savannah High School where he played the trumpet in the band and was a member of the ROTC. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and afterwards traveled extensively abroad. He attended George Washington University in Virginia and returned to Savannah where he earned a degree in History from Armstrong State College. For many years he worked in the Traffic Engineering Department of the City of Savannah. Upon retiring, he became a Tour Guide for Old Savannah Tours. He was a member of and attended The CrossRoad Baptist Church (formerly, Burkhalter Baptist Church). Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Monday at The CrossRoad Baptist Church with Rev.
