Tommy Kirkland Nelson

Tommy Kirkland Nelson - VIDALIA- Tommy Kirkland Nelson, age 92 of Vidalia, Ga. Passed away on March 23, 2010 at Community Hospice House in Vidalia, Ga, after a short illness. Tommy's devotion was to her six children, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, Tommy was a graduate of Middle Georgia College in Cochran, Ga. She taught school for many years, served as county clerk in Kingsland, Ga. and retired as a book keeper from Choo Choo Supply in Vidalia, Ga. Tommy enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and working in her flowers. She was very active in civic and community affairs. She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends her devotion to her Lord and her generosity to all. Tommy was preceded in death by her son Tommy Alan Nelson, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kirkland and five siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Dale Joiner (Charles), of Snellville, Ga. four sons, Bernard Nelson (Kris) of Vidalia, Ga. Joe Nelson (Nancy) of Lyons, Ga. Danny Nelson (Connie) of Boone, N.C, and Kirk Nelson (Ronna) of Lake Oconee, Ga. Tommy will be tremendously missed by every heart she touched. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am till 11:00 am Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia, Ga. Celebration of Life Services will be held in the John Howell Dixon Chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Rev. David Blalock and Rev, Rodney Pierce and Pastor Danny Nelson Officiating. Pallbearers will be the Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are, HC Tomplin, Ronnie Jones, Joey Lanier, Dr. Robert Clark, Dr. Dale Daly, AL Wilkes, Alex Comegys, James Bray, Quinn Williamson, Mike Kersey, Phil Butler, Danny Adams, LouisCowart and Wes Holt.
