Bobby Clyde Arnsdorff - SPRINGFIELD - Bobby Clyde Arnsdorff, 67, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 22, 2013. He was born September 15, 1945, to the late Alton Gordon Arnsdorff, Sr. and Saralyn Thompson Arnsdorff, of Springfield, GA. He graduated from Newberry College, Newberry, SC, Cum Laude in 1968 and was a member of the Bachman Honor Society. Bobby proudly served in the United States Marines during Vietnam as a Field Artillery Officer. In 1972 he received a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida. Employed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for 23 years in EPD as an Environmental Specialist, he oversaw the annual publication of the Water Quality Monitoring Data for Georgia Streams. He courted his future wife, Cynthia Ruth Pittman Arnsdorff, with wildflowers he picked from the roadside, a practice he continued throughout their 30 years of marriage. He invested in commercial real estate in North Georgia and Atlanta, but upon his diagnosis of Huntington's disease he turned his attention to his property, Wilderswamp BioPreserve, on his beloved Ebenezer Creek. A man of faith, hardworking, and kind to all. With a quick wit, big brown eyes, and a mischievous smile. In his later years the grace, dignity, and courage he displayed throughout his disability inspired many. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy E. Arnsdorff. Survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Arnsdorff; brothers, Alton G. Arnsdorff, Jr. (Clara Sue) of Bellevue, NE, and Charlie T. Arnsdorff of Springfield, GA; sister, Janet A. Hanberry (Donald) of Snellville, GA; mother-in-law, Ruth A. Pittman and sister-in-law, Serena M. Pittman both of Hemlock, MI, and sister-in-law, Rebecca G. Ferrante (Chris) of Atlanta, GA; many nieces and nephews. Blessed with three long-term caregivers: Bessie Connely, Patty Scott, and Rhonda Fountain, and many other wonderful caregivers and volunteers including the VA Home-Based Staff.
