Michael Salnikoff Obituary
Michael Salnikoff - SAVANNAH - Michael Salnikoff, 96, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Savannah Commons. He was a native of Detroit, Michigan and lived in Savannah since 1950. After high school, he worked at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant. Mr. Salnikoff served in the United States Navy during World War II retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He was also a Pearl Harbor survivor. After active duty, he continued his service in the United States Navy Reserves. Mr. Salnikoff was a member of IBEW Local 508 and was retired from the electrical industry. He was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Key Salnikoff. Surviving are his son, Michael J. Salinkoff of Brunswick, GA; four grandsons, Leon Griffin of Richmond Hill, GA; Roy Griffin of Snellville, GA; Richard Griffin of Jacksonville, FL; Wayne Griffin of Savannah, GA; eight great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Michigan and South Carolina. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with Reverend Jim Rush officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, 412 Parkersburg Rd., Savannah, GA 31406.
