Norman Katz - MILFORD, CT - Norman Katz, 88, died at home in Milford, CT on Monday, March 24, 2014, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Sandra Hendricks Katz. Devoted father of Stephen (Donna) Katz and the late Ira Katz. Loving grandfather of Ilana Katz. Cherished brother of the late Joseph Katz and the late Jay Katz. Loving uncle and cousin. His career as an apparel executive spanned more than 60 years as a principal of John Weitz Juniors, At Home Wear Inc, and I. Appel Corp. Born to Paul and Dora Katz in Zwikau, Germany, Norman and his family arrived in New York City on April 1, 1940. He attended Columbia University prior to serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fashion Institute of Technology, on the Board of the Intimate Apparel Council and was Chairman of the American Apparel & Footwear Association. He was a sustaining member of Congregation Talmud Torah Adereth El in New York City. His many awards and distinctions include Anti-Defamation League UJA Honoree in 1987, Under-Fashion Club Femmy Award in 1988, Congregation Talmud Torah Adereth El Man of the Year Award in 1993 and the AAFMA Intimate Apparel Council Award in 1995. Green and Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, CT. Interment at King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ.
