Annian Brand Obituary

Mr. Annian Mowat Brand, III - SAVANNAH - Mr. Annian Mowat Brand, III, 89, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Community Hospice in Vidalia. Mr. Brand was born on December 17, 1920 in Savannah. He was the son of the late Annian M. Brand, Jr. and Ione Lennon Brand Poston. Following graduation from The Alexander School in North Carolina, Mr. Brand enlisted in the Army and served as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. After completing his military service, Mr. Brand returned to Savannah where he worked for the Central of Georgia and Southern Railway Systems as a Trainman until his retirement. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth Mills Brand with whom he had five children. He is survived by his former wife, Sarah Brand of Vidalia, GA; three daughters, Dorothy Brand Rowe of New Bern, N.C., Betty Brand Moxley of Vidalia, GA, and Marguerette Brand Shackleford of Atlanta, GA; two sons, John Revere Brand of Covington, GA, and Joseph Edward Brand of Lawrenceville, GA; seven grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ohoopee Regional Library 610 Jackson St., Vidalia, GA 30474-4746.
