Uncle Gay was more a part of my young life that older. Not our doing but those things that happen in life. It saddens me that he was not more a part of us. I remember someone saying that he had that certain swagger. That is how I remember him; the cool uncle that always moved around slow and easy.
Family I miss you.

Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. They really mean a lot during this rough time. I recognize a lot of the names here and some I may not. But I know you all cared for my dad and he for you. He was a good person, great father and great friend. I will miss him dearly.

I was truly shocked to hear that Gay had died. We were friends for almost 50 years. I used to see Gay at the beach after we retired. I moved from Savaannah in 2000 and did not see him any more but talked to him on the phone. I will miss him very much. I am truly saddened that I did not see him more.

To the family of Mr Gay Hendley, i am truly sorry to hear of your loss, my thoughts & prayers are with you in these times. While you do not know me , i met Gay way back in early 1960'ts while we both were pipe fitter helpers at union camp, while Gay worked there until retirement,i left U,C, after a few years, but i continued seeing him on accassions until his retirement, While he & i were not extremely close, i knew him good enough to call him My Friend, he was a very good person & will be missed by many, My thoughts & prayers go out to all his family & friend during these times. You will be so missed Gay. I have such fun memories of you and the good times we all had. You are more like a brother to us than an uncle. We love you so much.
