I am truly, deeply saddened by the news of sister Bowers' death. I consider her to be one of my mothers growing up in Savannah. Whenever I visited home she always always made it a point to reach out to me with a kind word of encouragement. What a jewel of a person. I have so many images of her locked in my memory; singing in the choir, ushering in that white uniform, marching the kids into church. My deepest condolences... Richard Pinder (Charlotte, NC)

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
