Libby Walker - SAVANNAH - Elizabeth Bryant Walker (Libby) passed away on March 5th. Libby was born in Warrenville, SC in 1934 and lived throughout the Southeast, always calling Savannah her home. Known for her good-natured spirit and compassion for others, Libby was a true southern belle, seldom without a smile on her face or an encouraging word for her many friends and family members. Of the many gifts Libby had and gave, true friendship was what she valued most. Libby is survived by her three children, Gary Walker and his wife Wendy, and their children Carrie Castle and Amy Newcombe of Lynchburg, VA; Susan Brown and her husband Reed, and their children Carla Armstrong, Jason Brown, Kelly Harris, Sara Harrison and Jordan Brown of Jesup; Jeff Walker and his wife Linda, and their children, Danni Milito, Jessica Walker, and Evan Walker of Savannah. Mema Walker also had 14 great- grandchildren she loved very much. She now joins her beloved mother, Elma Howard Bryant, siblings, Ruby Bennett, Bill Bryant, and Mary Justice, and nephew John Bennett in heaven. Libby worked at the Catholic Diocese for 11 years, alongside her sister-in-law, Roxie Bryant, who helped care for her until the end. She was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. The family would also like to thank Linda Simpson and Delores Graham who served as Libby's caregivers for the last two. Visitation will take place from 1pm - 2pm Saturday March 9th at Fairhaven Funeral Home at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive in Savannah. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2pm in the Fairhaven chapel. Father Jess Reese of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church will preside. she will be laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Hospice Savannah, whose staff took loving care of her in the end.
