Grace Jones Obituary

Mrs. Grace Evelyn Jones - MIDWAY - Mrs. Grace Evelyn Jones, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 12 at Hospice Savannah after a brief illness. Her passing was peaceful with her daughters at her side. Mrs. Jones was retired from Liberty Memorial Hospital in Hinesville with more than 20 years of service. She worked in many areas of the hospital but her greatest enjoyment as a nurse was to be a part of welcoming many new lives into the Liberty County community. In the years after her retirement, she went on to volunteer as a Pink Lady and did Hospice respite care as well. Mrs. Jones loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Gum Branch Baptist Church where she had been very active in her singles group and a volunteer Bible School teacher. She will be missed by many. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Edward Jones and her daughter, Lori Lynn Bennett. She is survived by her two daughters, Deleta Kay Terrell of Pensacola, FL and Sue Fowler of Hinesville, GA; three grand children, Justin (Elisa) Terrell, Whitnie Mock, and Zachary Carter: and her greatest joy and namesake, her great-granddaughter, Gracie Carter. Visitation services will be held on Tuesday night, December 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Funeral services will be held at Gum Branch Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 16 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. David Daus officiating. Burial will follow at Allenhurst Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Justin Terrell, Zachary Carter, Ronnie Adams, Doug Adams, Joshua Wirht, Chuck Mincey, Woody Adams and Jason Massey. Honorary Pallbearers: Nancy Reyes, Bob & Gail Colbert and Howard Hill Remembrances: The family would like to give special thanks to all of the many friends that have loved and supported their mother through the years and would like to thank the staff of Memorial Hospital MICU and Hospice Savannah. Memorials may be made to the Gum Branch Baptist Church building fund. Thomas L. God bless your family during this time. It is always hard to lose a loved one, but it is especially hard during the holidays. I have never met anyone quite like Grace. I know that y'all will miss her. I'll always remember her from the Singles Group at FBC. She was a mess! You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Kay and Sue - I just heard about your Mom and I am so saddened, but glad she is at peace. I have so many memories of her growing up and will always remember her smile and the twinkle in her eyes when she would talk with me. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed in the community. I am so sorry I am not there to see you both. You are in my heart and in my prayers. Love you! Angie

My what a sweet lady. I have great memories of Grace from the days at LMH to Sunday School at Gum Branch. (Grace never acted her age!) She was always a bright spirit and had a compassion for people. I have missed her over the years and know the family will as well. Godspeed, Miss Grace!

From our family to yours, we send our love and deepest sympathy to all of you. Grace has and will always hold a special place in our hearts. We will cherish all the memories shared together as our children were growing up together on "Myrtle Lane" and all the Christmas's shared as we did our "Traditional Candle Lighting" on Christmas Eve. You will certainly be in our thoughts and prayers, especially at this time of year. We love you and if you ever need us, we'll be there for you.
