Herman Lee Brown, Jr. - SAVANNAH - Herman Lee Brown, Jr. the son of Herman Lee and Ethel Lee Jackson Brown, Sr. departed from this life on November 30, 2012 in Monroe, Louisiana. The 3rd of nine children, he was born on October 4, 1943. He was a graduate of A.E. Beach High School, class of 1962. He entered into the United States Army soon after graduation. He excelled as a soldier and was the recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, a Silver Star, and the Distinguished Service Cross. He was a Warrant Officer while in the military and continued his love of flying until his death. He was a River Pilot, an architect, an author, and above all, a Soldier of the Cross. He was preceded in death by his father in 1978, then his mother in 1995. He was married to Joan Drummer and from this marriage, two children were born, Herman L. Trey Brown III and Kristie Brown-Scott. He leaves to mourn: a son and a daughter; four sisters, Harriet A. Brown Robertson (Kenneth) Brooklyn, NY, Ethel Louise Brown De Loach (Robert) savannah, GA, Bonnie Brown, and Campanella J. Brown Metz Savannah, GA; four brothers, Alfred Delacy Brown (Vellore) of Chicago, IL, William M. Brown (Ruth), New Bedford, Mass., Theodore Brown (Carmen) savannah, GA, and Calvin F. Brown (Arlee), savannah, GA; four aunts, Florence Jackson, Savannah, GA, Helen Flowers, Bronx, NY, Amelia Grant, Germantown MD, and Juanita Brown Grant of Savannah, GA; one uncle, Reginald Brown of Savannah, GA; four grandchildren, Le'Vaniel Mitchell, Jr., DunTrey Phoenix, Tiphanie Ballard, and Jaylan Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; and a very, very, Special friend, Josie Smith of Savannah, GA whom followed him in death on December 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM from Asbury United Methodist Church, 1201 Abercorn Street.
