John Stephen Womble - SAVANNAH - John Stephen Womble, 75 of Savannah, Ga. passed away on October 29, 2012 peacefully in his sleep. A Memorial Celebration gathering honoring John will be held this Sunday Nov. 11th from 4pm to 5:30pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home located at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Dr. Savannah, Georgia. John Stephen Womble was born in Savannah on September 3, 1937. He attended Commercial High School and was a member of the Commercial High School Cobra Club. John worked as a care giver for the handicap for many years. He enjoyed cooking, sports, church, and most of all eating chicken. John was a member of the Savannah Indians, a semi-pro football team. John was a dedicated member of The Seed Church. At the church he regularly volunteered cooking meals for the needy. John always said that the best decision he made in his life was when he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. John has 3 children Donna Kay Corley, John S. Womble Jr. and Sean Womble and 3 grandchildren Nicole Corley, Tiffany Dorsey, and Brayden Womble. He has 5 great grandchildren James Jr., Morgan, Mary, Jessica and Taylor. John's parents were Paul M. Womble and Lera Everett Womble. He had 2 brothers Jim E. Womble, Paul M. Womble and 2 sisters Shirley Menard and Mary Hill. He was blessed to have many good friends and family that loved him.
